Scholastic Building
The Scholastic Building project is a 100,000 square foot ground-up addition to 200,000 square feet of renovation of the historic Charles “Broadway” Rouse Building. The building is the corporate headquarters of Scholastic Inc., the publisher of Harry Potter, among many other well-known books and educational materials. Situated in Soho-Cast Iron Historic District, it was intended to be a contemporary interpretation of the contextual cast iron facades. Paul Goldberger wrote, “this building will teach generations of architects how to build in historic districts”. Design and management executed by Jess Walker at Morris Adjmi Architects.
