Meat Packing District, Manhattan
Completed 2009
The Theory Building is a 50,000 square foot headquarters and flagship retail store for the clothing and apparel company Theory.  It was originally on the site of a turn-of-the century industrial building.  In New York City's "Meat Market" district, designated by the New York City Landmarks Commission as the "Gansevoort Market Historic District”, the Theory Building was the first ground-up construction project created after that designation.  It is widely regarded as setting a precedent for a contemporary yet contextually appropriate architectural language. Design and management executed by Jess Walker at Morris Adjmi Architects.
